BIO

Hugh Montgomery, Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at University College London, has developed transformational approaches to solving problems in human health and disease, addressing regulation of human cardiac growth, skeletal muscle function/wasting, mitochondrial biology, hypoxic adaptation, and bone remodelling. He has worked in the field of artificial intelligence as applied to medicine, collaborating with colleagues at Deepmind/Google Health and UCL. He has led national and international work on Health and Climate Change providing representation at several ‘COP’ climate negotiations and briefed multiple government departments. Also, during the COVID-19 crisis, he chaired the National Emergency Covid Critical Care Committee.
