BIO

Matthew Snape, Vice President, Clinical Development Pediatric and Maternal Vaccines at Moderna, is an academic paediatrician whose work has advanced immunisation programmes in the United Kingdom and internationally. His career has used clinical trials of vaccines to transform prevention of epidemic and endemic disease such as against Ebola, COVID-19, Influenza H1N1, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, meningococcus and pneumococcus. He was Chief Investigator of an expedited phase 1 study of an Ebola vaccine schedule now recommended by the World Health Organisation, and lead the COM-COV series of ‘mix-and-match’ COVID-19 vaccine studies, facilitating rapid deployment of these vaccines globally. More recently he has focussed on the urgent need for a vaccine to reduce the overwhelming burden of disease from Respiratory Syncytial virus infections acting as Chief Investigator on two ‘first in-human’ studies of RSV vaccines.
