BIO

Professor Michael P. Manns is President and Board Member for Research and Education of Hannover Medical School(MHH), Hannover, Germany, since January 1, 2019. He graduated in medicine from the University of Vienna in Austria and the University of Mainz in Germany before completing postgraduate training at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and the University of Mainz, where he became Professor of Medicine in 1986. Subsequently, Professor Manns was a Research Associate at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, California, USA from 1987 to 1988. He was the Director
of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology at Hannover Medical School from 1991 to 2020 and from 2015 – 2018 he was Clinical Director of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI), Braunschweig, Germany, and founding director of the Center for Individualized Infection Medicine (CiiM), Hannover. 2015 – 2020 he was member of the Scientific Panel for Health (SPH) of the European Commission in Brussels.
