BIO

Nick Grassly is Professor of Infectious Disease & Vaccine Epidemiology at Imperial College London. He is a highly interdisciplinary epidemiologist whose research spans field studies, clinical trials, laboratory research and epidemiological and genetic modelling. His research has transformed understanding of the efficacy of poliovirus vaccines, and has been pivotal in guiding the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and in informing optimal use of diagnostics and vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. His research led him to advise UK SAGE and No. 10 on how to optimally use mass-testing, and he has chaired the COVID-19 modelling subgroup of the WHO SAGE committee, which generated the evidence supporting WHO vaccine policy recommendations.
