Trevor Lawley, Senior Group Leader, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and Chief Scientific Officer, Microbiotica, is a leading human microbiome researcher with a strong track record in biological science discovery and innovation, particularly in microbiome-based technologies. He has established new concepts and methods to enable foundational discoveries and translation of medicines and diagnostics from the human microbiome. He has made critical contributions to our understanding of antibiotic resistance and bacterial evolution and diversity. His strong focus on accelerating the pace for translating critical research findings into clinical practice led him to establish a company, Microbiotica, now a global leader in translating the human microbiome and developing live bacterial therapeutics, biomarkers and microbiome-based technologies focused on autoimmune diseases and cancers including melanoma, renal cell carcinoma or lung cancer.
